Criteria

The Miss Jamaica Universe contestant entry criteria changes from time to time. Below we’ve featured the criteria as at August 17, 2009.

• Must have been born in Jamaica, be the child of a Jamaican parent, or be a naturalized Jamaican citizen.
• Must be at least 18 years old and under 27 (by February 1st in the year they participate).
• Should be a person whose background is not likely to bring into disrepute the Miss Jamaica Universe Pageant or Miss Universe Pageant, the Promoter or any person associated with the contest.
• Must never have been legally married, or given birth to a child.
• Must not have entered and will not enter into any contract with any other promoter or model agency which is or will be in force during the period of the contest which will require her personal appearance or publication of her name or photographs in association with any product or service save that, in the event the applicant is contracted to a promoter or model agency, the said promoter or Model Agency is willing to release the applicant from any such contract or contracts for the duration of the Miss Jamaica Universe 2009 Pageant and, in the event that the applicant wins the Miss Jamaica Universe 2009, for the period leading up to the termination of the Miss Jamaica Universe 2010 Pageant.
