The 2011 Miss Jamaica Universe coronation show took place last night at the National Indoor Sports Centre in Kingston, and Shakira Martin (pictures below) wearing the sash ‘Miss Fiction Jamaica’ (for the popular Fiction night club in Kingston) was crowned Miss Jamaica Universe 2011. Shakira is 24 years old and stands 5’8”. She will represent Jamaica in the 2011 Miss Universe pageant.

On related note, I’ve noticed no-one ever mentions the very poor job of makeup, poses and photography for official pageant portraits.
Why????
This picture illustrates my point. Look at the shadow across the young lady’s face,arm and chest. The pose is NOT flattering and the shot has a piece of metal and an unfinished background!
Come on Jamaica, step up your game, surely we have better skilled photographers, model teachers and (especially) makeup artistes than this! We’re on the international stage here, this is very amateur work, and this has been the case for years!
