Miss Jamaica Universe 2011 Finalists

The 20 Jamaican beauties who will vie for the Miss Jamaica Universe 2011 title have now been selected. The 20 finalists were selected at a final elimination show, which was held on Thursday, March 31.

The lucky 20 are – Shakira Martin, Natasha Brown, Yanique Grizzle, Itrisha Nunes, Tamara Cox, Jodiel Ebanks, Kaiya Montague, Kadyan Salmon, Terri Arcelia, Peta-Gaye Simpson, Natalia Leon, Chantal Zaky, Christina Gonzalez, Tiffany Trotter, Jameela Geddes, Debbie-Lee Baker, Tausheeda Francis, Mitzie McLean, Sophronia McKenzie and Samantha Zschuchner.

From an initial batch of 70 applicants, 40 ladies were called in for casting interviews, and their numbers were further reduced to the 30 ladies who appeared at the eliminations on March 31. In the end, only 20 ladies remained, and these finalists will now embark on a four-month journey to the crown and title Miss Jamaica Universe 2011. Included among the rigors of pageant life that they will face are fitness sessions, choreography, speech and etiquette courses, photo shoots, social appearances and charity work.

The 2011 Miss Jamaica Universe pageant will reportedly be launched on April 20 (with the sashing of the finalists), and will be documented for an eight-part reality series that will be aired on CVM TV. The April 20 launch event will be followed by a promotional tour in May.

The 2011 Miss Jamaica Universe Coronation Show will be held on Saturday, July 9, at the National Indoor Sports Centre. The winner will go on to represent Jamaica at the Miss Universe pageant which set to take place in São Paulo, Brazil on September 12.

The contest’s organizers, Invyte Productions, are now accepting applications for the 2011 Miss Jamaica Universe beauty pageant.
